Welcome to The Mindset Coach Academy Podcast, I’m Lindsey Wilson, former pro athlete, high-performance mindset coach, and entrepreneur and here we’ll dive into everything mindset. I have lived all these mindset tools- as an athlete, a business owner, a mom, a human. And together, you and I will sit in the student chair and study mindset. We’ll work on our own mindset and even talk about how to build a mindset coaching business if that’s your thing. With experts in the field, athletes, coaches, and other high-performance individuals, we are going to nerd out on the mental side of the game. This podcast is all about being a student of mindset. We believe mindset work isn’t about fixing or changing, it’s becoming more of who you were always meant to be. Here we work on our mindset. The good stuff, the hard stuff, the stuff most people won’t do. We have officially changed our name from The Inner Game to The Mindset Coach Academy podcast because we are specifically looking to grow as coaches and students of mindset. We’ll interview top experts in the field and high-achieving individuals about how mindset has brought them success, as well as dive deep into mindset training. New episodes will drop every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, as well as short 5-minute episodes every Mental Monday. Our first two guests are badass female Olympians successful on the playing field and rocking it off the field as well. We’ll start off with former Olympic Volleyball Player Courtney Thompson.

Interview Episode: Inside The Mind of Sports Psychiatrist, Dr. Britt
Wednesday Sep 27, 2023
Wednesday Sep 27, 2023
There’s something super special about getting to interview someone you knew as a kid. Especially when they’ve grown up to absolutely crush it in this industry. For me, that’s Dr. Britt Gonsoulin, MD, MPH.
Dr. Britt and I met playing basketball together on our high school team (I have the oversized jersey pic to prove it :). She went on to play D1 basketball while majoring in Kinesiology & Exercise and Sports Sciences, then continued her education at Tulane University School of Medicine. There, she graduated AOA with a dual doctorate and Public Health masters degree in Health Systems Management.
Dr. Britt has collected over 15 years of clinical experience as a Sports Psychiatrist and provides comprehensive in-person and tele-health care from her practice in Bainbridge Island, WA.
To put it plainly, her professional resume is so freaking impressive. So much so that I did something I’ve never done before and invited my MCA students to join us for our interview!
I love this episode because my MCA students got a chance to ask their own burning questions like:
- “How can we help an athlete filter against an outcome-focused parent or coach?”
- “How you incorporate cognitive behavior therapy with clients of different ages?”
- “How do you help kids who are afraid to be honest with their coach because of how it might affect their playing time?”
- “What’s the difference between Sports Psychology and Sports Psychiatry?”
- “When should you enlist the help of a Sports Psychiatrist?”
Dr. Britt is so passionate about the psychiatric side of sports, and working alongside people like her is so vital to this industry expanding.
Thank you Dr. Britt for letting us pick your brain!

Part of being an entrepreneur is knowing that there is an ever growing list of things to do. And it's easy to get sort of lost in it. We feel super overwhelmed, spend entire days working (without really getting anything done) and end up moving a hundred things an inch.
It's time to clear the clutter and commit to one thing.
In today’s Mental Monday, I’m telling you why “Simplify and Focus” is my coaching mantra this year and the key to making a real difference in your mindset coaching business.

MCA Launch 2023
Wednesday Sep 13, 2023
Wednesday Sep 13, 2023
Today, I’m talking about The Mindset Coach Academy Certification. This episode is for anyone who is curious about what it’s really like to join The MCA Certification. I’m answering questions like:
- What does a typical week look like in The MCA Certification?
- How does this certification differ from others?
- What is the value of joining The MCA community?
- How will I be supported after I graduate?
- What tangible resources will I receive during this course?
- Is this certification right for me and my business goals?
- What is a Performance Visualization Specialist?
- What will this certification qualify me to do?
I created this certification to equip people who are passionate about mindset coaching with the tools they need to start a fulfilling, profitable, business with real impact and results.
To help people like you bring mindset coaching into the world so that you can teach others the mental skills we all need to achieve our biggest goals, in and out of sports.
If you follow me, you might know all of this already.
But something I haven’t talked a lot about is what it’s really like to be a student in The MCA Certification.
From the application process (and why we have one), to the very real benefits of joining a community of aspiring mindset coaches, and the practicalities of how we equip you to work with teams long after graduation, I’ll lay it all on the table.
I believe wholeheartedly in our certification. I have years of evidence to support that the MCA Certification takes people to a place where they can work with clients, build a profitable business, get results, and create value in the world.
I hope this episode gives you clarity about whether or not The MCA Certification is right for you.
Our next MCA Certification course starts in October. I hope to see you there!
-Lindsey

How to Break The ’No’ Habit - MM
Monday Sep 11, 2023
Monday Sep 11, 2023
In The Mindset Coach Academy, we’re practicing saying yes to something that scares you.
Some students are speaking on stage, doing a daily cold plunge (like me!), having a tough conversation with a loved one, trying a new hobby, or joining a dating app. You get the idea.
Beyond the obvious, saying ‘yes’ to something that you wouldn’t normally do has this awesome ripple effect. It breaks the ‘no’ habit and rewires your brain in a way that is so incredibly healthy long-term.
Listen to the episode to learn what I did just this week to break the ‘no’ habit.

Do You Love Mindset Coaching TOO Much? - MM
Monday Aug 28, 2023
Monday Aug 28, 2023
"Everyone needs mindset coaching!"
I believe this and maybe you do too.
But this belief can lead to thoughts like:
- Why don't people understand that they need this?
- Why isn't there a line out the door for my services?
- It's my responsibility to share mental training with everyone
- I need to give mental training away for free!
Today on The Mindset Coach Academy Podcast, I'm talking about the not-so-great side of being truly passionate about mental training.
If you've found yourself thinking any of these thoughts, or feeling frustrated at the people around you, this one's for you.

Guest Interview: Ken & Amy: Why You Need Community To Build Your Business
Wednesday Aug 23, 2023
Wednesday Aug 23, 2023
It’s my pleasure to introduce you to Amy Oliphant and Ken Bizup. Both of my guests today are PPT Certified Mindset Coaches and current Team Captains for The MCA.
Amy is the founder of Transcend Mental Training in Chicago. She works with athletes, hockey players, swimmers, and, as she puts it, “any athlete that crosses my path”. She is also starting to do presentations for corporations and small groups. Amy was the first coach we recruited to be a Team Captain, and we are so thankful to have her. We’ve interviewed Amy before, so you might recognize her!
Ken Bizop has been working as a mental performance coach for over 10 years, and joined The MCA Certification just 1 year ago. As Ken explains it, “I needed a recipe for success and MCA was clearly the next course of action.” Today, he continues to run his company, Athletes Mental Trainer, where his goal is to “unlock true athletic potential” by training the mind.
As MCA Team Captains, Ken and Amy are responsible for mentoring small groups of MCA students as they progress through the program. They hold bonus weekly coaching calls where they connect with their team to offer additional help, answer questions, and build relationships with coaches who are going through our program.
These breakout groups have been proven to be one of the most valuable parts of our MCA Certification. They’ve led to lifelong friendships, business opportunities, and invaluable emotional support. Students from the breakout groups have gone on to coach one another’s kids, hire one another, brainstorm marketing tactics, share advice on offerings and proposals, and, most importantly, learn from one another in a safe and welcoming space.
As entrepreneurs, this level of community is so hard to find and part of what makes The MCA the best mindset coaching program in the world.
Enjoy this episode with two of my favorite people, our incredible coaches, and kickass MCA Team Captains, Amy and Ken!

Why You Need to Learn to Sell - MM
Monday Aug 21, 2023
Monday Aug 21, 2023
Selling is a topic I don't talk about lightly. (Before you scroll past, hear me out.)
I know that people have a natural resistance to selling. Perhaps you struggle to charge for something you really believe in. Or you feel like an imposter. Or you don't think anyone will actually want to pay for what you can offer.
Today on The Mindset Coach Academy Podcast, I'm challenging you to think about selling differently. My hope is that this episode will help you see that selling is about so much more than making money.
Do you feel weird about selling? Press play!
