Welcome to The Mindset Coach Academy Podcast, I’m Lindsey Wilson, former pro athlete, high-performance mindset coach, and entrepreneur and here we’ll dive into everything mindset. I have lived all these mindset tools- as an athlete, a business owner, a mom, a human. And together, you and I will sit in the student chair and study mindset. We’ll work on our own mindset and even talk about how to build a mindset coaching business if that’s your thing. With experts in the field, athletes, coaches, and other high-performance individuals, we are going to nerd out on the mental side of the game. This podcast is all about being a student of mindset. We believe mindset work isn’t about fixing or changing, it’s becoming more of who you were always meant to be. Here we work on our mindset. The good stuff, the hard stuff, the stuff most people won’t do. We have officially changed our name from The Inner Game to The Mindset Coach Academy podcast because we are specifically looking to grow as coaches and students of mindset. We’ll interview top experts in the field and high-achieving individuals about how mindset has brought them success, as well as dive deep into mindset training. New episodes will drop every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month, as well as short 5-minute episodes every Mental Monday. Our first two guests are badass female Olympians successful on the playing field and rocking it off the field as well. We’ll start off with former Olympic Volleyball Player Courtney Thompson.

How to Allow Things To Be Simple with Courtney Thompson

Wednesday Feb 08, 2023
I am thrilled to once again welcome everyone’s favorite co-host Courtney Thompson!
I LOVE sitting down and chatting with Courtney; she is a fountain of wisdom and has lived out everything I teach when it comes to Mental Training - on the BIGGEST NATIONAL stages. Courtney is a 2-time Olympic medalist with a professional resume that goes on for miles. She’s also an advocate for mental training, a natural teacher, and she credits mindset work for a lot of her success, on and off the court.
I am so excited to announce that Courtney has agreed to join me as a regular co-host on this podcast. That’s right, you’ll be seeing a lot more of her here in 2023!
Today, Courtney and I are asking the question: “How can we allow things to be SIMPLE?”
As high achievers, we take a lot of pride in working hard. For many of us, it’s our comfort zone; It makes us feel good to work hard. And, don’t get me wrong, there is a lot of pride to be had in working long hours, training hard, hustling. After all, as Courtney puts it, “If you’ve never been burnt out, or trained too hard, or crossed that line, are you actually pushing yourself?”
But oftentimes we take it too far.
The problem comes when we become so accustomed to working hard that we make things harder than they need to be.
In today’s episode, Courtney and I talk about the “dark side” of working hard.
We talk about:
- What it means to “allow” things to be easy
- How self-sabotage masquerades as hustle
- Why the thing you SHOULD be doing is often the thing you avoid the most.
From Courtney’s experience in setting up her new business to my new-and-improved approach to family laundry, this concept is so applicable to everyone in so many different parts of life. In this episode, both Courtney and I have real breakthroughs, and we’re confident that you will too.
Let’s dive in!
